A Theology of John’s Gospel and Letters introduces the first volume in the BTNT series. The volume not only furnishes an exhaustive theology of John’s Gospel and letters, but also provides a detailed study of major themes and relates them to the Synoptic Gospels and other New Testament books. D. A. Carson says about the book that “for the comprehensiveness of its coverage in the field of Johannine theology (gospel and letters), there is nothing to compare to this work.”
Biblical Foundations will be giving away a free copy of Andreas Kostenberger’s new book. To register for this book giveaway please use the comment field to enter your email address and leave a brief explanation of how you will use this book in ministry. We will receive emails until November 9, 2009. If you have any questions please contact us.
Hi,
Here’s my entry for the book giveaway. In a word, I’d use it, D.v., in teaching, preaching, and sharing God’s Trinitarian love with my Muslim friends. I enjoyed Dr. K’s joint volume with Swain on the Trinity in John’s Gospel, and I’d love to study further the Johannine doctrine of God.

I am a young minister in my fourth year of Bible college. I will be attending seminary in the Fall, hopefully at either Southeastern Baptist or Gordon-Conwell in Charlotte. I am a student of some of the greats: Carson, Piper, MacArthur. I would use this book in my ministry for study and preparation for the pulpit work that I carry on each Lord’s day.
I, by the grace of God, hope to see the Church be manifested throughout the Arab World. I believe that John’s Theology is particularly vexing to Muslims, mostly because they do not truly understand it. I would use this book to help equip myself to deal, to God’s glory, with Muslim misperceptions of the Word Made Flesh.
I will use this book to help minister to myself so that I can, with more confidence and maturity, relay John’s amazing message to others.
I plan to use the book in teaching the Gospels, in particu8lar John. I teach both at the survey level and individual books as electives.
I’m just starting full-time parish ministry in Sydney, Australia. John is an excellent book to read through with university-age people (with whom I’ll be working), as it’s accessible but incredibly rich. This book sounds like it would be a great one to have along the way!
I am a pastor of a Spanish speaking church in Yakima, WA. I bought Dr. Kostenberger’s commentary on John a couple of years ago. It has been a valuable resource for teaching and preaching.
With Dr. Kostenberger’s new book I will be able to continue teaching John’s gospel to the Spanish speaking community in Yakima.
As the preaching pastor of a smaller Baptist church (approx. 100 people), I would use the book in sermon prep., regular teaching opportunities (I generally preach and/or teach our congregation at least twice a week), and perhaps in personal devotions. From reading Dr. Köstenberger’s other work, I assume the book would be characterized by exegetical precision as well as a concern for practical application, which I also am striving for in ministry. I also tend to agree with the author’s approach to and articulation of theology, which makes a reference book all the more handy.

Hello, I am a pastor in a very small church in the Midwest (around ~60 people) and would use the book to prepare sermons and small group studies with greater precision and accuracy with regards to the overall theological themes in the book.
God bless you all as you serve our Lord,
Pastor Kevin
I’m a student ministries pastor and I would use this resource to prepare for small groups, devotions and messages. Thanks!
I teach Sunday School just north of Southeastern. Our class and church are eager for more than just devotional quarterlies that pass as lessons, so this would be a huge help in explaining the richness of John’s Gospel to a class that is ready to learn.

I’m a pastor and teacher who will use this book to help me shepherd God’s people and teach students to understand the glory of Jesus in John’s Gospel and letters.
Blessings,

I’m a pastor working to help revitalize a church in Central Illinois. I’m currently preaching through the Gospel of John to increase the faith of the church, stir their love for the savior, evangelize the lost who are attending, and encourage evangelism on the part of church members. This book would be an amazing resource as I preach through this awesome book.
I’m currently teaching through John’s Gospel in an adult Sunday School class at my church. The book would be a great help in my preparation.
As a pastor, it is my earnest desire that the folks of our church would see Christ for who he is and follow him. I believe this book will equip me to equip them to follow Christ.
Simple…I need help !

I teach the gospel daily to public school students through released time education…75% of whom are un-churched. I’m teaching New Testament next spring and this would help me get ready for it. We are a non-profit (read: financially poor) ministry, so resources are always greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I serve as a pastor of Heritage Bible Church in Greer, SC. I look forward to using this tool as I teach and preach through John’s writings. Kostenberger’s works (God, Marriage, and Family and Women in the Church come to mind) have already proved helpful; I expect no less from this
I will read the book and incorporate the greater knowledge of John into the well from which I draw for ministry. I am presently a MDiv student at TEDS and am teaching Sunday School at my church and leading a Young Adults Bible Study group. This last summer I did a sermon series on discussions with Christ in John. It has piqued my interest in John’s writings considerably. While I have a good understanding of Paul, I strongly desire to understand John better.

I would use this book in sermon and Bible study leading preparation.
I am going through the Gospel of John right now in my devotional time and have been looking for something just like this to aid me in my study. It would be of great value as I work my way through this wonderful book from God’s Word!
I teach pastors at a Bible school in Tanzania, East Africa. I’d use the book to prepare lessons for my students. Thanks.
I would use it for: personal growth, family growth, sermon-preparations, Bible-study preparations, reference, etc.
This would be a most helpful volume for any pastor or minister. I pastor a small congregation and it would be of great value in teaching/preaching through the Gospel of John. I do not currently own any volume that specifically treats Johannine theology, so it would be a welcome addition.
I am a Filipino pastor. I’ll be needing it for my sermon preparations, most specially in the series of the book of john.my appreciation for the opportunity of having this reformed reading material.Soli Deo Gloria.
As a pastor of a smaller local church to help train / prepare future pastors and missionaries in the pastoral internship program we are developing to return ministerial equipping to the local body.
Hello,
I would use this book to gain a greater understanding of John’s gospel and letters and to assist me in discipleship of others.
Jeff
I am seminary student and am currently translating and studying deeply through the text and theology of the Gospel of John. Dr. Kostenberger’s book would be very helpful.
Thank you for the opportunity.I would use the book to further my growth and teaching ministry. John’s Gospel is very crucial in its contribution to a correct Christology. Having gained vaaluable insight from your existing writing, I am certain that this will only increase my growth and application of the word of God.
I am a pastor of a hispanic congregation and I am very familiar with the works of Brother Kostenberger. His scholarship and sound exegesis places him among the best living scholars nowadays. I own some of his works and commentaries and always he is precise to the point.
I would like to use the book as a tool to exposit the Word of God more accurately.
Daviel
I do university ministry, and I would use this book as a resource for sermon preparation, crafting Bible studies, and in the training of new ministers. I’m currently preaching through the signs in the gospel of John.
Dr. Carson and Dr. Kostenberger’s books have been my most reliable sources on John’s materials. I found the book on trinity in the NSBT series very helpful as well. I would read the book and use the information/exegetical wisdom in sermon preparation and small group discussion.
I would you the book as a resource in my preaching ministry. Thanks for the chance to win.
I would use the book in my research to start a new small group study on the gospel of John. We are just finishing up Romans and I think John would be a great next study.
I am an elder from Dominican Republic, a caribean island with Haiti. I love John’s gospel and want to preach a serie of sermon. I think this Dr, Kostenberger’s book will help me to grasp johannine theology in order to preach to our church.
Thanks
I think it’s particularly the integrative angle offered in this new volume that I’m looking forward to. I’m heading into ministry in 2010 (Tasmania, Australia) and am confident this volume will help me in both exegesis and broader doctrinal reflection as I study and preach through John’s writings, particularly.
Whether or not I received the give-away, thanks, Dr. Köstenberger, for writing another work on John
I’m a seminary student from the Philippines, and wish to study and read more theology on John’s Gospel for present and future ministry to the church. Thanks, really, for this offer.
If I receive this book, I would use it in my own walk with God, that I might better understand his ways and delight in his heart. It would also be helpful in my discipleship relationships, particularly in mentoring my son.
I would use the book in my local church ministry; a small church in southern New England
I´m an elder in brethren assembly in Dominican Republic, a caribean country. I love John´s gospel and want to teach a serie of sermons on it. so I think this book would help me to grasp the major themes of this gospel.
It feels strange answering how you will use a particular book in ministry, non-the-less this book is about the greatest work ever done in general, the Word of God, and more specifically and arguably about the greatest Gospel written, that of John’s Gospel, the uniqueness of this Gospel should cry out to every believer, to dig deeper and not only wonder why it is different but to know that God wants us to dwell on the thoughts of His heart as written in the Gospel of John. I can’t fathom how a book about the Gospel of John won’t motivate not only my heart, but any believer’s heart to go out in the Spirit of our God and give an answer to the hope that is in us to the unbeliever and to believer, Jesus said and John writes, “feed the sheep”.
I’m a school teacher and currently leading the Christian Fellowship at my school. I think the book will benefit me a lot in bringing more proper teaching and guidance from Dr Andreas about Theology of John’s gospel to my students. Please send it to me at:

Hello, I’m a 3rd year seminary student, married with 3 children. I hope to begin shepherding God’s people in the near future. This book would be a help to me as I prepare to teach and preach through John.
As pastor of two small rural churches that have had much anti-intellectual preaching I would use this to assist me in preaching/teaching through John (as I am doing presently at one church) so that I might help the people more clearly see the glory of God in the face of Christ, move away from legalism and into the joys of grace in Christ who is so clearly seen in His splendor in John’s writings.
I am a non seminary trained, reformed evangelical, pastoral intern in the heart of the 10-40 window( Dubai,United Arab Emirates) about to commence pastoral ministry. No fancy claims.I need this book.
Thanks
I’d love a free book!!
Christian greetings.
