However, spirituality is crucial as well. Sometimes, evangelical scholars give up spiritual vitality in order to pursue for equivalent popularity with contemporary scholars. In fact, I deeply admire those scholars pursuing the direction of Jonathan Edwards and J.B.Lightfoot who balance scholarship with spirituality! It is necessary to have discipline and focus to produce a fine scholar. However, spirituality is crucial as well. Sometimes, evangelical scholars give up spiritual vitality in order to pursue for equivalent popularity with contemporary scholars. Scholarship is the backbone of the defense of the Gospel. Laymen like myself rely on you and other writing evangelicals to provide us with the background tools to ready ourselves for our walk with Christ. Please don't underrate the writings of our brothers who are making our theology applicable in the world where we must live for Christ. As a scholar you and others like yourself must react to society to aid us laymen. Scholarship is the backbone of the defense of the Gospel.
