Thanks to the generosity of Zondervan publishers (www.zondervan.com), Biblical Foundations is having another giveaway of Andreas Kostenberger’s new book. A Theology of John’s Gospel and Letters introduces the first volume in the BTNT series. The volume not only furnishes an exhaustive theology of John’s Gospel and letters, but also provides a detailed study of major themes and relates them to the Synoptic Gospels and other New Testament books. D. A. Carson says about the book that “for the comprehensiveness of its coverage in the field of Johannine theology (gospel and letters), there is nothing to compare to this work.”

I am currently a seminary student at SBTS in Louisville, KY. I have greatly enjoyed studying the gospel of john in the past and have had several chances to lead Bible studies through John. This book is sure to be a great resource in preparing sermons as I move toward church planting in New England.
My email is tomlynn83@gmail.com
Thanks for the chance to get this great book.
Tom
I would use this resource in leading Bible studies for other students and, of course, in my own personal study and growth. I would definitely like to have a better understanding of biblical theology.
Thanks!
Thanks for this gracious offer. I will use the book as material for the classes I teach in a Christian University.
Thanks, David Brown, Ohio Christian University
We are in the process of building a useful Library in our church. Having a copy would prove beneficial to our teachers of the Word, as well as students working on Bible degrees. We don’t have access to a Bible college or seminary library in our area, and so have made efforts to make such resources available.
Thanks for this fantastic offer. As an associate pastor for adult minitries I would hope to first immerse myself in Johannine theology for personal edification. Secondly, this would be a very useful tool as I would hope to teach through the gospel of John in our adult class (and make our other adult Bible teachers aware of it as well). Finally, I hope to begin PhD work in biblical studies, and this would certainly be an outstanding addition for research.
Thanks for the consideration; I was able to attend this year’s ETS conference and got excited about hearing the direction of this commentary specifically and the series as a whole. I am currently a student at Dallas Theological Seminary and I plan on taking a course on the theology and exegesis of John’s letter. I feel that this would be an invaluable resource for me to have for the remainder of my seminary studies and eventually will allow me to extract all from these rich letters as possible when I am eventually a pastor.
Thanks again,
Willie Nelson
I help lead a discipleship and missions training school connected to a local church in Boston. One of my primary jobs is to teach the Bible and train others to study it in order to help them lead church planting endeavors, both stateside and overseas. It is my hope that this book will not only give information useful for the study and understanding of John’s Gospel and Letters, but also demonstrate how individual texts, which are often read in isolation from one another, fit together to form a coherent theology.
I would use this book to help me prepare to preach through John’s letters and to give me a better understanding of what John taught and how it applies to us today. Then I would communicate that to my listeners. Thank you for this opportunity.
Thank you BIBLICAL FOUNDATIONS and Dr. Andreas Kostenberger with the important sponsorship of Zondervan publishing House for making this GIVEAWAY possible.
I am a Reformed Baptist pastor with an almost obsessive desire to have in my personal library ALL the soundly biblical commentaries available. I don’t know exactly HOW MANY I already have, but they have been of a great help in preparing exegetically sound messages in the church I serve.
I think we are living in a time when the Word of God is having a great impact on Christians of every culture and denominational background. Publisher Houses must be aware of this fact, and focus on printing more and more materials that are faithful to the Reformed principles. My hope is that one day the most popular books at the bookstores won’t be the “Left Behind” or “Your Best Life Now” stuff, but books on Theology and Bible Commentaries written by authors and scholars with the stature of Dr. Kostenberger.
Thank you very much for this opportunity.

As a lifelong learner and a fan of the Fourth Gospel, I seen this book in our local Christian Bookstore. I reviewed and would use it in a series of studies, messages, and approaches toward teaching and making Christ known. Also, I very interested discovering the why’s for the amount of material that John uses that the other authors or evangelists do not corroborate in their teachings. It has been one of my favorite Gospels and I would relish the addition to the studies and tools in my library.
I would eventually like to study with Dr. K and also develop in these key areas.
I have preached through the themes of the gospel and through the first epistle. I have also taught course in a Bible institute on John 1-12 and would like to expand my notes to cover the entire gospel. This would be a tremendous aid to my future preaching and teaching on John’s writings. Thanks for the opportunity.

I am a Pastor as well a Lecturer in Biblical Studies in Australia. I already benefit greatly from Dr. Kostenberger’s work and planning to use his NT Introduction as a required text next semester at another Bible College in Asia. I would seek to use his work on John in both my pastoral work and Bible College work.
I’m working through the Gospels with my Sunday School class (just started a few months ago…got to John 4 so far), and this would be tremendous. I’ll probably get it anyway if I don’t win it though…appreciate your work very much.
May God continue to bless your ministry.
Angus
Thank you for this special offer. As a Pastor, I am teaching a group of people the meaning and significance of Biblical theology. This text would be most helpful in introducing them to the concept and methodology of biblical theology as we work through John’s gospel (and letters).
We are currently preaching through the Gospel of John right now and this would be an added benefit to better understand and apply John’s gospel to those in our congregation.
Thanks,
Taj Eaton
Thank you for a second chance at this giveaway! I have been preaching through the Gospel of John for the past year and a half (I’m only up to 6:14-15). Dr. Kostenberger’s commentary has been tremendously helpful and I am looking forward to benefiting from this new book. I hope to win, but if not, it’s currently sitting in my Amazon shopping cart awaiting Christmas money!
I am currently church planting and pastoring a small growing ministry in the unicoprated area of Los Angeles “East Los Angeles”. We are currently meeting on a large concrete slab behind an apratment complex. We set-up four canopies, folding chairs and a podium and we are ready to go for our Sunday Morning services. East Los Angeles 7.5 square miles. Our desire is to reach, teach and preach the gospel of Christ to this part of Los Angeles. This are is need of the gospel and sound biblical theology. This volume of John would be a tremendous blessing to help us accomplish our efforts to teach sound biblical theology and communicate with clarity the gospel of Jesus Christ. Notwithstanding, as a church planter the budget is very slim to obtain sound scholarly resources.

I am retired seminary instructor, completing a multi-year research and writng project on the “Untold Story of John the Apostle”. As an member of SBL, ETS et al I have kept current on John research by direct contact, periodic journals and reviews and have incorporated much current thinking and ideas into my project – having the work/insight of Andreas Kostenberger would both helpful and appreciated. My website is under construction and I will launch as an E-Book in February 2010. Thanks for your consideration. Don
Already planning on preaching John in the Spring. This would help shape and sharpen my teaching!
While Paul’s writings usually receive most emphasis in NT theology, I find John’s Gospel and letters to also contain a life-time of wealth. Many new converts, and even those only considering the Christian faith, are often encouraged to read John’s Gospel. I am sure this book would deepen my understanding of John’s writing so that I could better engage both groups. I hope to never stop learning and am trying to instill this value into my children. I’ll never be able to answer all questions, but I hope the ones I do are answered correctly.
I am a missionary serving in Beira, Mozambique. I recently preached through 1 John in Cindau. It would be great to have this resource for further work. I first met the author at TEDS in 1990. He was doing his PhD and I was doing my MDiv.
Dr. Kostenberger is great. Want his book to learn from and help teach with.
I pastor a church in Austin, TX called Woodlawn Baptist Church. I am also finishing a PhD in New Testament and my dissertation is on the Christology of the Gospel of John. Both my academic work and my ministry require me getting a copy of this book.

As a seminary student/future pastor I would use the book to guide me in translating and understanding John’s Gospel.
I teach the Bible each week to my local church as well as teaching and leading an internet study. I also work with prisoners at the Snake River Correctional Institution in Ontario, Oregon where 3000 inmates are imprisoned. One of the great values of John’s gospel is its repeated Calvinism such as in chapter 6 and 10. I am probably the only Calvinist working at the prison. In Eastern Oregon and Southwestern Idaho there are very few Calvinist. The commentary would be a great help in getting this out. Mike Howard.
I would use this book to reap fresh insights from the Gospel and the Epistles and minster to my family. Most of my family say they believe, but lack any commitment to follow Him. I was just released from prison in March and have been praying for a way to minister to my family and friends. After I finish with the book, I will give it another Christian diligently studying the Word and desires to minister to others around them. Thank you for this opportunity to gain a valuable resource.

I’m an MDiv student at TEDS, planning to do a pastoral-internship at my home church in Tempe, Az once done. I used the John commentary from BECNT to study and teach the fourth Gospel in a college ministry as well as in a men’s small group. A solidly evangelical-orthodox volume on John’s Gospel has been needed for quite a while, especially one this sweeping in its content. It would be a resource for teaching and preaching the gospel.
I would use this book in a nursing home ministry I lead. I often turn to the writings of the apostle to give brief Bible studies and show people how to find LIFE!

i am a new pastor of a small rural SBC church and i am currently preaching through the Gospel of John. i am trying to help the people understand the Bible as a whole and how the Gospel of John captures that. this book would be a tremendous help.
since i identified the beloved disciple in 1983 my life and walk has radically changed and the 4th gospel has become my major interest. i have come to the conclusion that JESUS dictated the 4th gospel to the beloved disciple. i write essays about this book.
