While six Johannine signs are commonly acknowledged, there is no agreement regarding possible other signs in the
Fourth Gospel. Indeed, some even question whether one should look for further signs in John at all. This article seeks to examine the various proposals and come to a consensus regarding the number of signs in John’s Gospel. This examination leads to a better understanding of “signs” in John’s Gospel, a better understanding of John’s christology, and a better understanding of the structure of John’s Gospel.
